Site Reliability Engineer

Radial Inc.

In this role, I partnered with internal software engineering teams to resolve critical support issues, ensuring minimal disruption to customer-facing systems. My role included overseeing change management for infrastructure updates and deployments, where I balanced stability with innovation. I designed and deployed scalable cloud infrastructure using AWS, Kubernetes, and Terraform, while also mentoring junior engineers in reliability best practices.

TASKS AND PROJECTS

  • Add/Remove/Update users in either the command line via shell commands or the LDAP client on the server.
  • Created an interface in Python for Nagios to display AWS metrics like CPU, Memory usage, and Available storage.
  • Created containers to run development, testing, and production applications.
  • Created monitoring for on prem and cloud deployed applications in AppDynamics.
  • Created monitoring in Nagios for deployment infrastructure.
  • Led the Change Management meetings and oversaw downtime requests.
  • Mentored a team of junior Engineers.
  • Ensured team kept our SLAs by monitoring our SLIs in several observability platforms to track that we met our SLOs.

In this role, I monitored and maintained proprietary data pipelines, resolved failures in infrastructure and deployment processes. I contributed to system reliability improvements using Python, Bazel, Terraform, and Kubernetes, while ensuring seamless operation of financial data workflows.

TASKS AND PROJECTS

  • Support Software Engineering Team by resolving small fixes to code.
  • Fixed data ingestion from vendor sources.
  • Created CLI tool to navigate logs in Python.
  • Used Bazel to create/manage build repo for scripts used by SRE team built in Python.
  • Updated Terraform to scale container memory size when microservice failed.
  • Built rapport with the Software Engineering Team to have as a resource for support escalation and break fix implementation.

Site Reliability Engineer

In this role, I provided technical support for robotic systems and cloud infrastructure, resolving high-severity incidents to meet SLA targets. My responsibilities included mentoring peers, optimizing monitoring metrics, and working with Python, GraphQL, SQL, and networking tools to maintain uptime for deployed solutions.

TASKS AND PROJECTS

  • Created Prometheus and Grafana servers for monitoring robot data.
  • Managed support tickets in Jira that corresponded with robot failure or issues with the web portal accessed by customers.
  • Navigated LogDNA and use information in these logs to determine
  • Led Root Cause Analysis meetings after a high severity escalation to pinpoint the fundamental reasons for failure and plan prevention action for failure.
  • Created documentation for support engineers to use tools such as GraphQL to update user data.
